Parkers status is unknown after he was forced
DATE: Dec 09 2014, 8:19 pm / MOOD: Dont know

SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs have maintained that records and winning streaks do not matter as much as staying healthy and becoming consistent on offence and defence. Alvaro Negredo Manchester City Jersey . The consistency has been there, but the Spurs are once again dealing with an injury. Kawhi Leonard matched his career high with 26 points, Manu Ginobili had a season-high 26 and San Antonio eased to a 112-92 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday after losing Tony Parker to injury. Parkers status is unknown after he was forced to leave with back spasms early in the first quarter. "Theyre going to MRI his back tomorrow," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "Im not a doctor, I dont know." The All-Star point guard took a hard fall as he drove the lane, landing squarely on his back near the free throw line after being fouled by Memphis Mike Conley with 7:38 left. Parker remained on the court for about a minute, but rose and continued playing before exiting with2:41 remaining in the first. Tim Duncan added 13 points for San Antonio (60-17), which bounced back after its franchise-record, 19-game winning streak was snapped Thursday in Oklahoma City. San Antonio reduced its magic number to claim the leagues best record to three while winning at least 60 games for the fifth time in franchise history. "Wins are wins, but all of us want to be the last team standing," Popovich said. "Thats all thats really important to about six, or seven, or eight teams." The Spurs showed their focus heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, capturing their 20th double-digit victory since Feb. 26. "Youve got these guys (in) San Antonio that are in the playoffs for sure, but are playing like theyre out of it," Grizzlies forward James Johnson said. Johnson had 20 points and Conley added 18 points for Memphis (45-32), which is chasing a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol shot a combined 6 for 16, finishing with eight and six points, respectively. Parker finished with 10 points, going 4 for 4 from the field with an assist in nine minutes. He waved for team physician Dr. Paul Saenz as he walked through the tunnel to go back to the locker room. San Antonio general manager R.C. Buford soon followed. Parker has missed 10 games this season, including sitting out the Spurs game Feb. 6 in Brooklyn with tightness in his lower back. He has battled various leg injuries this season, but also sat out seven games due to what was listed as "rest." "Hopefully its nothing," Ginobili said. "He was just sore in his lower back. We just have to hope its a couple-of-days thing. Of course, were a different team without him. We need him healthy and strong for the playoffs." Leonard took over offensively with Parker out, showing off his expanding offensive game with a series of driving layups, pull-up jumpers and going 2 for 2 on 3-pointers. The 6-foot-7, third-year forward was 12 for 13 from the field. "(Hes) a lot more confident behind the arc and his pull-up," Spurs wing Danny Green said. "And when hes making shots, it makes us that much more dangerous as a team." Leonards 3-pointer with 5:53 remaining in the game matched the career-high 26 points he set against Chicago on Feb. 11, 2013. He left the game after the 3-pointer. "I just made shots tonight, I didnt really miss," Leonard said. "As of lately, Im just knocking down shots. My teammates are looking for me. Im just going out there and having good results. Even with Parker out, San Antonio continued its fluid ball movement. The Spurs had 27 assists, with four players finishing with at least four and all but one of 13 who played picking up an assist. Parker was extremely active during his short night, helping the team overcome a lethargic start. After San Antonio missed its first two shots, Parker drove the lane for one of his teardrop shots, worked his way through screens for 21- and 17-foot jumpers and made a pair of free throws as part of a 12-2 opening run for San Antonio. Parker later drove left into the lane, spinning away from Conley and between a closing Randolph to scoop in a layup with 5 minutes left in the first quarter. NOTES: San Antonio has three games remaining away from the AT&T Center, but has already secured the leagues best road record. The Spurs are 29-9 entering a two-game road trip that begins Tuesday in Minnesota and ends Thursday at Dallas. Their final road game is April 14 against Houston. . Randolph received the loudest boos among Memphis starters during pregame introductions, as San Antonio fans apparently still remember the bruising post-season battles between the two clubs. Richard Wright Jersey . Now shes ready to make waves in the U.S. Pace shot a 3-under 68 on Saturday to grab a share of the third-round lead with Laura Diaz in the Marathon Classic. She can barely express what a breakthrough win on the LPGA Tour might bring. Micah Richards Jersey . That four-game skid in early January seems as if its a long time ago. Kessel scored twice, James van Riemsdyk had a goal and an assist and the Maple Leafs beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Tuesday night for their sixth straight win. WASHINGTON -- Doug Fister did the splits while covering first base and reached backward to make a how-did-he-do-that stab of a grounder while on the mound, adding a bit of gymnastics to another pinpoint outing. No one can accuse the 6-foot-8 righty of being either ungainly or inaccurate. He won his fourth straight start Thursday, another walk-free outing of seven innings with just two runs and four hits allowed as the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 to complete a three-game sweep. Fister (4-1) struggled in the Nationals debut last month after missing all of April with a lat strain. He hasnt allowed more than two runs in a game since. In six starts, hes walked only two batters. "Id rather them earn it," he said, "than give it away." And earning it is that much harder with a pitcher as flexible as Fister. The college first baseman did a full split while not quite hanging on to a throw to first that would have completed a double play in the first inning. "Yeah, thats not comfortable," Washington manager Matt Williams said. For the player or the manager? "For both," Williams said. Then there was the play in the third inning, when Fister flipped himself around to rob Ben Revere of a hit up the middle -- a play that proved more valuable when Jimmy Rollins followed immediately with a double. "Hes a cat out there on the mound," reliever Tyler Clippard said. "Hes getting everything." Sounds like hes the teams unofficial "pepper" champ. "I try to do a lot of work with groundballs up the middle and try to work on reaction time," Fister said. "Being able to field my position is something I take a lot of pride in." Fisters start is the latest in whats starting to look like the tough-act-to-follow rotation expected from the Nationals this season. Jordan Zimmermann threw eight scoreless innings in the series opener Tuesday, and SStephen Strasburg fanned 11 in Wednesdays win. Vincent Kompany Manchester City Jersey. Overall, the Nationals have won five of six. They have out-scored opponents 38-12 in those half-dozen games, including 19-6 in each of the three-game series against the Texas Rangers and the Phillies. Now comes a 10-game road trip to San Diego, San Francisco and St. Louis. "We have a really hard road trip coming up against some really good teams," Williams said. "Without going too far, were happy with where were at it right now and the way its gone. We have to continue to push." It would be easier if they could keep playing the Phillies, who have lost six straight, are an NL-worst 9-20 since May 5. A team meeting on Tuesday yielded nothing productive, and Rollins can already envision a possible lost season in which key players are traded away. "Its getting out of control now," Rollins said. "Weve got a chance to go out there and change that tomorrow. If not, then thats a decision theyre going to make either way. But wed like to put a streak together going the other direction. Be up in that left column, and find a way to win some games." Kyle Kendrick (1-6) allowed four runs over seven innings and walked a season-high five. He is 1-11 in his last 19 starts, has an 11-start winless streak on the road and hasnt won a day game since 2012, going 0-6 in his last nine starts in the sunshine. But the problems are team-wide. The Phillies are batting .224 over their last 29 games. "Its been time to straighten it out," Philadelphia manager Ryne Sandberg said. NOTES: With the matinee following a rain-delayed game the night before, Nationals SS Ian Desmond and Phillies OF Marlon Byrd were given a day off for the first time this season. Desmond had started every game up to Thursday, while Byrd had started all but one. ... Adam LaRoche hit a two-run homer, and Rafael Soriano picked up his 12th save for the Nationals. ' ' '

VANCOUVER -- Veteran tough guy Todd Fedoruk has failed to land a job with the Vancouver Canucks. Eddie Lacy Jersey . Fedoruk and veteran Swedish defenceman Anders Eriksson were both released by the Canucks on Friday. Vancouver also sent Nicklas Jensen, the teams first-round pick in this years NHL draft, back to Oshawa of the OHL. Fedoruk, 32, didnt play hockey last season and in the past he battled alcohol and drug problems. The native of Redwater, Alta., said he came to camp clean and sober. "That year away from hockey I could just focus on the thing that was dragging me down for years," he said in an earlier interview. "There were so many people behind me in the decision to come back and play." In 545 NHL games with six teams Fedoruk had 32 goals and 1,050 penalty minutes. Two other veterans attending the Canucks training camp, forward Owen Nolan and goaltender Manny Legace, were released earlier. Players assigned to Vancouvers American Hockey League team in Chicago included goaltender Eddie Lack, forward Mike Duco, defenceman Yann Sauve and centre Jordan Schroeder. The Canucks play their final exhibition game Saturday at home against the Edmonton Oilers. Vancouver begins the regular season Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Rogers Arena. Mason Crosby Jersey . Nuggets fell asleep on an in-bounds pass with 10.7
DATE: Dec 09 2014, 8:18 pm / MOOD: Happy

NEW YORK -- Daniel Carcillo scored the tiebreaking goal 4:36 into the third period, and the New York Rangers completed a two-game sweep of the outdoor series with a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders at frigid Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night. Rob Ninkovich Patriots Jersey . Building off their 7-3 win over New Jersey at the ballpark in the Bronx on Sunday, the Rangers took out another division rival under the lights in front of 50,027 fans. The temperature was 22 degrees when the first puck dropped at 7:45 p.m. with a single-digit wind-chill factor. It got progressively colder as the night went on. Benoit Pouliot also scored for the Rangers, who are 3-0 in their history while playing outside. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 30 shots while again adorning pinstriped pads in honour of the Yankees. The only goal he allowed was a late second-period tally to Brock Nelson that gave the Islanders a short-lived 1-0 lead. The Rangers evened the season series with the Islanders 2-2. The teams will play for the final time this season on Friday at Madison Square Garden. Wearing a ski cap with a pompom atop his mask, Evgeni Nabokov had 32 saves for the Islanders, who made their outdoor debut. Road teams are 9-1-1 in NHL outside games. Carcillo fired in a rebound of Dominic Moores shot for his third goal of the season, helping drop the Islanders to 0-3-1 in the last four games. With both teams struggling to control the puck early, it took nearly 39 minutes for the scoreless deadlock to be broken by the Islanders and then 40 seconds for the Rangers to get back even. The Islanders built up a big lead in shots, but couldnt get any past Lundqvist -- despite getting the first three power plays and a 2-minute stint of 4-on-4 play. When Islanders forward Kyle Okposo went off for holding, and took Rangers forward Rick Nash with him for embellishing with 9:49 left in the second period, the Islanders held a 21-10 edge in shots. By the time the period was over, the Rangers had cut it to 25-20. The Islanders grabbed a 1-0 lead with 1:27 left in the second, using a fine three-way passing play to go in front. Cal Clutterbuck managed to fling the puck from the left circle into the middle as he fell to the ice. He connected with defenceman Matt Donovan, who quickly moved the pass to his right to Nelson, who fired a shot past Lundqvist for his 10th goal. Before the goal was announced to the cheering and shivering sold-out crowd, the Rangers tied it with Pouliots ninth of the season. Derick Brassard did hard work from the back edge of the left post, worked the puck free and slid it in front past the prone Nabokov who was down in the crease. Pouliot gathered it and scored into a fairly open net with 46.3 seconds remaining in the second. Both teams dealt with a bouncing puck during the scoreless first period, and Islanders forward Thomas Vanek had a puck hop over his stick from right in front of Lundqvist early in the second. Nabokov was playing in his first full game since returning on Monday from a lower-body injury that forced him to miss 10 games. He backed up Kevin Poulin in a 6-3 loss to Boston on Monday, but came on in relief for the third period and stopped the only shot he faced. He showed no signs of rust or difficulty playing out in the cold. Nabokov drank from a steaming cup at the bench during a break in the second period. Lundqvist looked comfortable at the other end, playing on the Yankee Stadium ice for the second time in four days. Since giving up three goals in the first period against New Jersey on Sunday following a pregame nap, Lundqvist allowed just one over the next five frames. While the Rangers had louder support in the stands, despite this being an Islanders home game, both sides were well represented and occasionally traded chants of "Lets Go Rangers!" and "Lets Go Islanders!" There were no visible signs of empty seats, even up in the far reaches of the upper deck that stretch into right-centre and left-centre field. NOTES: Okposo had a six-game point streak snapped. Nash had a five-game goal run broken. ... CeeLo Green performed between the first and second periods. He wore a long fur coat. ... The Islanders were 0 for 4 on the power play, including one at the end of the game Joe Vellano Jersey . Barcelona says Pique tore a muscle in his right leg. The Spain international will miss Spanish league games against Almeria and Valladolid, but should be back for the Champions league match against Manchester City on March 12. Shane Vereen Patriots Jersey . McCann was hurt in the third inning Friday night against Cleveland but remained in the game until he was pinch hit for in the sixth. Manager Joe Girardi said McCann was feeling cloudy.DENVER - Kenneth Faried had 20 points and Aaron Brooks hit four straight free throws in the final 12 seconds, helping the injury-riddled Denver Nuggets hold off the Washington Wizards 105-102 on Sunday night. Randy Foye added 17 for a Nuggets team that was missing J.J. Hickson, who suffered torn ligament in his right knee on Friday. Wilson Chandler also didnt play (strained left hip) and Jan Vesely didnt return after bruising his rib cage late in the third quarter. Bradley Beal wound up with 21 points as the Wizards wrapped up a four-game road swing with a 1-3 record. Trevor Ariza scored 15 of his 18 points in the first quarter and John Wall added 15, but also had eight turnovers. Evan Fourniers floating jumper with 7:36 remaining started a 7-0 run to give the Nuggets a 91-84 lead, which they wouldnt relinquish. Wall struggled down the stretch, turning the ball over twice in the five minutes on offensive charges. But Wall had a steal and a layup with 12.6 seconds remaining to cut Denvers lead to 99-97. Brooks then stepped up to the line and hit two free throws. Beal followed with a dunk when the Nuggets fell asleep on an in-bounds pass with 10.7 seconds remaining. Brooks was then fouled and hit two more free throws to seal Denvers fifth straight home win. The Wizards led by as many as 14 points in the first half, only to squander it away. Ariza put the Wizards up 49-47 at halftime when he hit a 20-footer as the buzzer sounded. Hickson was the latest player to be lost by the Nuggets. Tim Wright Patriots Jersey. They were already without Danilo Gallinari (left ACL), JaVale McGee (broken tibia) and Nate Robinson (left ACL), who all have undergone season-ending operations. Vesely was having one of his best games of the season, before leaving the court late in the third quarter with a bruised rib cage. He had 10 points in 15 minutes. Andre Miller made his return to the Pepsi Center for the first time since New Years Day, when he got into an on-court confrontation with former coach Brian Shaw. Miller, now a backup guard with the Wizards, was originally suspended by the Nuggets, but it was later rescinded. Miller stayed away from the squad until he was dealt to the Wizards on Feb. 20. Both Miller and Shaw said before the game theyve moved on from the incident. To show it, they shook hands when Miller entered the game to start the second quarter. "Im sure both of us didnt take this personal," Shaw said. "Its unfortunate that it had to happen and neither one of us wanted that to happen but I dont have a problem with him. I have the most respect for Andre Miller." NOTES: Miller had two points in his return. ... Denvers bench scored 52 points. Darrell Arthur led the way with 15. ... Asked about the mounting injuries before the game, Shaw said: "I hope its karma in reverse and that all of the bad stuff is out of the way this year and everything will be uphill from here on out." Burrows has scored five goals and added nine assists
DATE: Dec 09 2014, 8:18 pm / MOOD: Disapointed

The Vancouver Canucks will be without two key players on their upcoming road trip. Sergio Ramos Jersey . Canucks head coach John Tortorella announced Tuesday that both Henrik Sedin and Alex Burrows are listed as day-to-day and will not travel with the team to play the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday and Thursday night. Sedin left Sunday nights game against the Buffalo Sabres with a lower-body injury, while Burrows has not played since suffering a thumb injury on March 19. Henrik has 10 goals and 26 points in 65 games with the Canucks this season. Burrows has scored five goals and added nine assists in 40 games this season. Gareth Bale Jersey . For now, Joe Girardi and the rest of the New York Yankees are just thankful they have the Japanese right-hander pitching like one of the best in baseball. Fabio Coentrao Real Madrid Jersey . Turns out, the alternative wasnt any fun for Malone, either. Durant scored 30 points and embraced a role as a facilitator by finishing with nine assists to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder past Sacramento 108-93 on Sunday night.MOSCOW - Svetlana Kuznetsova advanced to the second round of the Kremlin Cup by beating Lesia Tsurenko 7-5, 6-2 Monday. The eighth-seeded Kuznetsova, a two-time Grand Slam champion from Russia, won five consecutive games in the second set and served for the match at love. "I havent been playing at the Kremlin Cup for a couple of years," Kuznetsova said. "But this year I really want to play my best here and thats why I was so nervous at the beginning of the match. And I feel myself much better than a year ago when I really tired of tennis after being on the circuit for 12 years." Kuznetsova is looking for her 14th career title. She last won in San Diego in 2010. Her best result in Moscow was a semifinal appearance in 2007. Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine and Alize Cornet of France also won their first-round matches in straight sets. Stakhovsky upset seventh-seeded Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-4, 6-3, while Cornet ousted Ukrainian teenager Elina Svitolina 7-5, 6-3. Stakhovsky won seven consecutive games to rally froom 4-1 down in the first set and take a 2-0 lead in the second. Pepe Jersey. He broke Sousa again in the ninth game, sealing the win with a drop shot on his second match point. "I started a bit nervous and experienced certain problems in the beginning," Stakhovsky said. "But later in the first set I managed to bring my concentration back and dominated the play for the rest of the match." Cornet broke in the 12th game of the first set and took a 4-0 lead in the second. "I didnt expect to play this level today because I just came back from injury," Cornet said. "But surprisingly I played really good today. I think I was really solid especially in the most important moments and thats why I won." Earlier, top-seeded Angelique Kerber, coming off her third career title in Linz, Austria, on Sunday, withdrew with an abdominal strain. Richard Gasquet, who is looking for a spot in the season-ending ATP World Tour finals in London for the second straight season, leads the mens field. ' ' '

With the IceCaps trailing 4-1 after 40 minutes
DATE: Dec 09 2014, 8:18 pm / MOOD: Angry

TUKWILA, Wash. Terrell Suggs Authentic Jersey . - When the collapse began last fall, the Seattle Sounders went from MLS favourites to a crumbling club that obviously needed change. Its the byproduct of having an unrivaled fan base and expectations that anything less than a league title is unacceptable for management. "To be honest it was time. Every couple of years a team is going to have to go through changes to grow and you get a certain amount of time with a certain group of players, and if you dont win you change it," Seattle midfielder Brad Evans said. "Most of the time its your star players you try and change and bring them in with other well-known players around the league and thats just the nature of the game and thats the business part of it. It kind of is what it is and we did lose some big names and some very good players but I think weve brought in some great players to fill in the shoes. And I think the group is a little bit stronger." Seattle will go into the 2014 season with the same belief that anything less than an MLS title is not success. But theyll do it with a completely overhauled roster, the result of the slide at the end of 2013. The question of whether changes were needed stretched from the bottom of the roster all the way up to coach Sigi Schmid. Eventually, general manager Adrian Hanauer and majority owner Joe Roth decided keeping Schmid and remodeling the team was the path Seattle would travel. It wasnt a complete overhaul. Evans is still around. So is Lamar Neagle, Obafemi Martins and rising homegrown star DeAndre Yedlin. Midfielder Osvaldo Alsonso was rewarded with a designated player contract and Seattle is about to get its first full season with Clint Dempsey on the roster. But the names that are gone are notable. U.S. national team striker Eddie Johnson is now with D.C. United. Defensive centre backs Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Patrick Ianni are gone. Midfielder Mauro Rosales is now with Chivas USA. Goalkeeper Michael Gspurning is back in Europe. Its a completely new look for Seattle and only success on the field will determine whether the right choices were made. "Its not really up to me what changes we make on the roster but the new guys have been great and very positive," Yedlin said. "They are good players and Im excited to see what they can bring to the team." The additions made by Seattle arent on the same level as the move last summer to bring Dempsey back from Europe. But they could end up being more important. Up front, Seattle brought in veteran striker Kenny Cooper, along with Chad Barrett and Tristan Bowen. In the midfield, Seattle acquired Marco Pappa through allocation when he decided to return to MLS from Europe. Chad Marshall, who played for Schmid in Columbus, was acquired in a trade to anchor the middle of Seattles defence. And former Toronto goalkeeper Stefan Frei was brought in to compete with 41-year-old Marcus Hahnemann for the starting job. "It is pretty obvious the mentality they are going for," Neagle said. "They want to be more aggressive and a lot more pressure and I think the guys theyve brought in have that same mentality, so its nice. Its easy to get on the same page when you have similar guys on the field." While all the roster changes mean some sort of acclimation period, how Dempsey fits during his second season will be watched closely early in the year. His first few months with Seattle late last season were a disappointment as the American star recorded just one goal and one assist in his nine games. Getting fully entrenched as Seattles leader will be difficult this season as well with Dempsey likely getting called away for U.S. national team duties even before training camp for the World Cup in Brazil starts in May. Dempsey may not even be available for Saturdays opener after being called into national team duty for an exhibition match against Ukraine. "Were still getting to know each other. Were still getting to know what the tendencies are of each player, but I like the spirit of the team, I like their attitude," Schmid said. Joe Flacco Authentic Jersey . The Bruins suffered their share of setbacks, a notable one just a week earlier. Once the Pac-12 tournament got rolling, the Bruins took off. Brandon Williams Ravens Jersey . - Inbee Park is back defending her No.CEDAR PARK, Texas -- The St. Johns IceCaps gave up too many open-ice chances and the Texas Stars capitalized during a 6-3 victory in Game 1 of the Calder Cup final. St. Johns had 29-23 advantage in shots and pressured Texas for most of the night, but the scoring chances against IceCaps goalie Michael Hutchinson disappointed head coach Keith McCambridge. "The goaltending wasnt the issue for me, it was our execution during the game," McCambridge said. "We played the game too wide open against obviously a very dangerous team offensively. We gave up too many Grade-A scoring chances against us and got ourselves on the wrong side of the game." The second period embodied McCambridges disappointments. St. Johns outshot the Stars 12-4 in the period, but Chris Mueller, Scott Glennie and Travis Morin all scored for Texas, cancelling out a tying goal by Will ONeil 1:47 into the period. All three goals came on rushes by Texas. Mueller beat Hutchinson over the right shoulder on a breakaway, while Glennie finished off a 3-on-1 rush with a wrist shot over the same shoulder. The backbreaker came later in the period when Morin scored a short-handed goal on a 2-on-1 with Brendan Ranford. "It was tough, we knew they were a great team and we gave up too many odd man rushes," said IceCaps centre Eric ODell. "We know how offensively skilled they are and they capitalized on their chances a we just caught a few times and that when they came down and scored."; With the IceCaps trailing 4-1 after 40 minutes, the game opened up even more in the third period. Sam Koch Jersey. Kael Mouillierat cut the lead to 4-2 just 2:36 into the third. Glennie then reinstated Texas three-goal lead on a tic-tack-toe passing play with Mueller and Dustin Jeffrey. Jordan Hill countered Glennies second goal less than a minute later when he tipped an initial shot by Andrew Gordon in for his first goal since the 2012-13 season. Mike Hedden added an empty-net goal for Texas to reach the final deficit. Earlier Morin gave Texas a 1-0 lead 3:08 into the game on a power play. It was the first power-play goal St. Johns conceded in 34 chances dating back to the second round against the Norfolk Admirals. Morin beat Hutchinson on the Stars first true scoring chance of the game -- a shot from below the right circle after a pass from Glennie. "I thought it was big, they had killed of 34 in a row so we knew they were good on the penalty kill," Stars coach Willie Desjardins said. "Its important to get the power play going, so that was big for us." Texas didnt allow a shot on goal until there was just six minutes left in the first and outshot St. Johns 11-5 in the opening period. But things changed in the final two periods as the IceCaps finished with a 23-12 shot advantage in the final two periods. Cristopher Nilstorp stopped 26-of-29 shots for Texas, while Hutchinson made 17 stops. Game 2 is Monday back at the Cedar Park Center. ' ' '

Borussia Moenchengladbach and consolidate second place
DATE: Dec 09 2014, 8:18 pm / MOOD: Disapointed

BERLIN -- Son Heung-mins second half strike was enough for Bayer Leverkusen to win 1-0 at Borussia Moenchengladbach and consolidate second place in the Bundesliga on Friday. Patrick Peterson Jersey For Sale . Son scored in the 62nd minute, when he let fly from outside the penalty area to send the ball inside the top right corner. Three Gladbach defenders failed to close down the South Korean. "There werent many goal chances. The game was going to be decided on a mistake and unfortunately we made it," Moenchengladbach captain Martin Stranzl said. Max Kruse was denied an equalizer by Bernd Leno in the 77th, three minutes before the Leverkusen keeper kept out another attempt by Juan Arango. Two Leverkusen substitutes, one in each half, were booked for slowing down play. "Theres still room for improvement," Leverkusen captain Simon Rolfes said. "Other teams will get better as well." Leverkusen was 10 points behind league leader Bayern Munich before the rest of the weekends games, while Moenchengladbach remained provisionally fifth after its third defeat in a row since the winter break. "Its a pity. A scoreless draw would have been fair," said Moenchengladbach coach Lucien Favre, whose side hasnt won in five games. "We have one or two things to correct. Well see. I have to turn it around." Bayern can restore its 13-point advantage with a win at Nuremberg on Saturday. Dan Williams Elite Jersey . -- Champ Bailey finally gets a chance to live up to his name. Pat Tillman Womens Red Jersey .com) - There was clearly no looking ahead for the U.COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Ethan Finlay took advantage of a defensive mistake to give the Columbus Crew a 1-1 tie with the Colorado Rapids on Friday night. In the 76th minute, Colorado midfielder Dillon Powers attempted a cross-field back pass to his defence, but Jairo Arrieta stole it and fed the trailing Finlay for a shot that rollled into the far corner. Pat Tillman Mens Grey Jersey. Immediately after the pass, Powers put both hands on his head. Colorado (7-5-5) scored in the 59th minute when Marvell Wynne curled in a cross to Vicente Sanchez that went in off Columbus defender Eric Gehrig for an own goal. CHARLOTTE, N. Rafael Bush Saints Jersey .C. -- Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing will field a second IndyCar entry for Oriol Servia this season in at least four races, more if sponsorship can be secured. Servia is currently scheduled to compete at Long Beach, Barber, the inaugural road course race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500 in a deal announced Wednesday. The Rahal organization last month finished a drawn-out process to secure sponsorship from the National Guard for Graham Rahals car. Team owner Bobby Rahal has insisted he would only field two cars if it would strengthen the organization, and Graham Rahal said he told his dad he didnt want to "rob Peter to pay Paul" just to have a teammate. But in Servia, the organization gets a veteran driver who was briefly teammates with Graham Rahal at Newman-Haas-Lanigan Racing in 2009. Servia also ran the Indy 500 that season for Bobby Rahal. "We have had the pleasure of working with Oriol before and are looking forward to his return," Bobby Rahal said. "I have always respected his ability to develop the race car and be a productive member of the team, so when it came time to consider the possibility of a second entry, he was right at the top of the list. We are happy to have him back and look forward to having him help the team progress toward the front." A native of Pals, Spain, Servia has made 191 starts in CART, Champ Car and the IndyCar Series since 2000. He won at Montreal in 2005, has 19 career podium finishes and was fourth in the 2012 Indianapolis 500. His Panther DRR team shut down after last years Indy 500, and he ran seven of the final 14 races for Panther Racing. "Continuity is a very important part of success in any racing team," said Servia. "By my moving to Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, this happens at many different levels. On the team side, in 2009 we did the 500 together as a one-off race. We were running very strong until we had a fuel pump fail on us, but that one race left us with a sensation that we could do great things together. That same year I did a short stint at Newman/Haas/Lanigan where my teammate was Graham, and that also started a great chemistry between us that translated to results on track." Servia will participate in the IndyCar Series open test at Barber in two weeks. "There are enough synergies within the team that make me feel positive, that even if we may be starting a little late, we will hit the road running," he said. Erik Lorig Jersey . -- Ryan Mallett played solidly in his first chance at quarterback for the New England Patriots. Willie Roaf Jersey . Pro Bowl centre Maurkice Pouncey ripped up his right knee and linebacker Larry Foote ruptured his biceps during Pittsburghs 16-9 home loss to Tennessee, likely sidelining both players for the rest of the season.DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke can finally take a breather. Rodney Hood scored 21 points to help the sixth-ranked Blue Devils beat Virginia Tech 66-48 on Tuesday night, a game that followed a demanding stretch that included games against their fiercest rival and the nations top-ranked team in a span of about 48 hours. Duke (23-6, 12-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) completed a stretch of five games in 11 days by beating the last-place Hokies (9-18, 2-13). "We need to get away a little bit," coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "We need to review our stuff instead of always planning for someone elses stuff." The Blue Devils fought to the final second to hold off Maryland on Feb. 15, then travelled to Georgia Tech before losing the weather-delayed rivalry game at North Carolina. Two nights later, they held off then-No. 1 Syracuse at home, then returned once more to Cameron Indoor Stadium to beat Virginia Tech in what Krzyzewski called "a grueling stretch." "Its kind of like -- I dont know if you do this -- getting that last bit out," Krzyzewski said. "Even though youve got two full containers, youre going to get that last little bit. Today was kind of, lets get it out there." Duke doesnt play again until next Wednesdays trip to Wake Forest, followed by the regular-season finale against UNC at Cameron Indoor Stadium on March 8. The Blue Devils have won 32 straight home games, the longest streak in the nation. "Probably everybody in the back of their minds was looking forward to (the break)," sophomore Rasheed Sulaimon said, "but at the same time we knew we had to take care of business." Hood said the coaches didnt let the players ease into this one, jumping on them about a sluggish pregame shootaround. The Blue Devils responded by running out to a 24-4 lead midway through the first half, though they struggled to land a game-finishing blow. "We started to warm up and we came back in and they got us pretty good because we didnt look like we were ready to go out there and fight," Hood said. "I mean, weve got to be prepared for that. The ACC tournament, you can play three or four games in three or four days so theres no excuse for us. David Hawthorne Jersey. . I think its taxing on us, but weve got to be ready and get rejuvenated for next week." The win, along with Clemsons loss at Wake Forest, helped secure some extra rest for the Blue Devils. They are assured a top-four seed in Greensboro and the double-round bye that comes with it. Sulaimon scored 15 points for the Blue Devils, who shot 39 per cent and went 10 for 33 from 3-point range -- well below their ACC-leading 40.7 per cent from behind the arc. Freshman Trevor Thompson matched his season-high with 15 points for Virginia Tech, which has won once since the start of the calendar year. The injury-depleted Hokies have failed to reach 60 points in 10 of those 14 games. Still, Virginia Tech shot 48 per cent after halftime to keep the Blue Devils from running away with it. Virginia Tech finished with 15 turnovers, six from freshman Devin Wilson, that led to 22 points for the Blue Devils. The Hokies also went 8 minutes without a basket in the second half as Duke crept further ahead. "They do what bothers us, that pressure defence bothers us," Hokies coach James Johnson said. "And they did a good job with that. And at that time (in the second half), were probably running out of gas a little bit." Duke ran out to a 15-2 lead on Sulaimons first 3-pointer, then pushed ahead by 20 points when Sulaimon knocked down another 3 at the 9:50 mark. Virginia Tech closed the gap to 32-20 by halftime thanks to a spark from C.J. Barksdale, who had nine points on 4-for-4 shooting, and got within 34-27 on Jarell Eddies driving score with 17:59 left. But Sulaimon knocked down two 3s then reserve big man Marshall Plumlee slammed home a miss to push the lead to 51-36. The Hokies never got the lead to single digits again. Virginia Tech was short-handed once again for this game. Second-leading scorer Adam Smith (11 points) missed his 10th straight game with a left calf injury, third-leading scorer Ben Emelogu (10.8) missed his second straight with a left ankle injury while reserve forward Cadarian Raines played just 1 minute after being listed as questionable with an ankle injury. SASSUOLO, Italy -- Juventus all but clinched its third successive Serie A title by coming from behind to win 3-1 Monday at relegation-threatened Sassuolo in heavy rain. Jason Witten Jersey . Antonio Contes side moved eight points ahead of Roma with three rounds remaining. The two sides face each other in the penultimate match of the season, but Juventus is expected to seal the title next week when it plays Atalanta at home, where it has won all 17 of its league matches this season. Juventus also remained on course to become the first Serie A club to reach the 100-point barrier. "We have taken a very important step toward a historic third title," Conte said. "We are having a super season. I hear talk about an out of this world Roma side but we are eight points ahead of them and in the Europa League semifinals. So find adjectives for us." Juventus hosts Benfica on Thursday looking to overturn a 2-1 first leg defeat in their Europa League semifinal. Simone Zaza -- who is co-owned by Juventus -- gave Sassuolo a surprise lead in ninth-minute when he finished off an electric counterattack. Nicola Sansone raced downfield before setting up Zaza, whose effort took a slight deflection off Angelo Ogbonna to beat Gianluigi Buffon at the near post. Juventus levelled in the 35th when Carlos Tevez collected the ball from Claudio Marchisio just outside the area and unleashed a fierce shot, which took a decisive deflection off Alessandro Longhi. It was Tevezs 19th of the season and leaves him two behind Torinos Ciro Immobile, the top scorer in Serie A. Claudio Marchisio fired Juventus ahead in front shortly before the hour mark after a chipped pass from Andrea Pirlo over the Sassuolo defence. And Fernando Llorente sealed the result when he finished off Stephan Lichtsteiners cross with a delightful backheel from close range 14 minutes from time. Contes jubilation after that goal and the whole teams reaction after the match expressed how close they are to the crown. "It wasnt a title celebration at the end because there is still a chance for our pursuers," Conte said. "We have to seal it in the next match, I dont like anticipating things but we took a huge step forward." Sassuolo is only above the relegation zone thanks to its head-to-head record with Bologna. Larry Allen Elite Jersey .J. -- The New York Giants are not only back in the playoff hunt with a four-game winning streak, theyre calling the plays that get them those wins. Dez Bryant Elite Jersey . It offers no assurances and doesnt apply any context, like, for example, taking injuries into account. Last year, this method forecasted the first round at a 7-1 clip; this year it was 5-3, with losses on Columbus, Colorado and San Jose.BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoys season appears over, finished by the infamous hit from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison three weeks ago. McCoy still has not been cleared by team doctors to practise after sustaining a concussion Dec. 8, and will likely miss the season finale Sunday against Pittsburgh. Browns coach Pat Shurmur said Wednesday that McCoy is "much better" and has increased his physical activity. However, the second-year player has not yet passed the necessary medical tests to return to the field. McCoy has not practised or played since being levelled on an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit by Harrison, who was suspended one game without pay for the blow. Shurmur said McCoy took part in team meetings and is at the teams facility and "taking care of what he needs to do to get back healthy." Shurmur did not provide specifics on what symptoms McCoy is still experiencing. Shurmur said McCoy is tested daily but did not give any details on what assessments the team gives players with cconcussions. Deion Sanders Elite Jersey. "He needs to be medically cleared before he can practise or play and that hasnt happened," Shurmur said. "Hes not passing it, so whatever that means, until its passed he cant play and its pretty cut and dry." Seneca Wallace, who has started Clevelands past two games, is expected to start this third straight game this week against the Steelers. "Hes taking all the (practice) reps and the longer it goes in the week theres a darn good shot hell be the starter," Shurmur said. McCoy has not spoken to the media since after the game in Pittsburgh 20 days ago. Shurmur does not expect his team to retaliate against Harrison, who has given three Browns players concussions in the past two years. "We coach our players play fast and physical, between the snap the whistle," he said. "We teach our guys to play by the rules and quite frequently if you do things outside the rules you get penalized. "Beyond that I think it detracts from what youre trying to get done." ' ' '

On potential expansion announcements before

JEREZ, Spain -- Red Bulls frustrating start to the Formula One calendar came to a sputtering halt as car problems forced it out of the opening test session early. Willie Roaf Womens Jersey . Daniel Ricciardo managed just seven laps around Jerez Circuit before pulling out of the afternoon session to focus on getting the RB10 ready for the next preseason test in Bahrain. Red Bull says "a mechanical issue" was discovered that could not be fixed in time for the afternoon session. Team principal Christian Horner says "its been a very difficult test. We have had numerous Renault issues as well as chassis cooling issues, which have affected our progress." But Horner was confident the F1 champions would solve the issues in time for Bahrain, which runs from Feb. 19-22. Kenny Stills Jersey . -- Dwight Howard vs. Pierre Thomas Womens Jersey . "First, I would like to offer my deepest and sincerest apologies for any harm I have inflicted on University of Missouri defensive lineman, Michael Sam," the statement read.BOCA RATON, Florida - NHL GMs took part of the final day of meetings in Boca Raton, Florida to discuss the annual combine that runs in late May prior to the NHL entry draft in June. The event puts invited prospects through a serious of fitness tests and allows teams to interview targeted prospects to gain a further understanding into their psychological makeup. But some teams have run team specific combines in the past to further evaluate prospects, which has been seen by several teams as an unfair competitive advantage. As a result, the NHL is contemplating placing limits and restrictions on the amount of players that teams can assemble for further testing. "There was a discussion about that," said Commissioner Gary Bettman. "A change like that would require Board of Governor approval but I think that there was a sense in the room that it might be a good idea." Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray was the loudest proponent against these limitations. For the past three years, the Sabres have held their own combine; this past year bringing in over 75 players for a four day period for interviews and on ice work. "I come from a scouting background," said Murray, who has held scouting positions with the Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers. "I dont want to criticize the combine we have but I want to be able to supplement that with what I want to do. Im looking for athletes and there are certain tests (that we feel are important) versus strength tests." But despite his instance, Murray had little success in persuading his colleagues. "Some of the veteran guys said you fought a great battle but it was a losing battle," said Murray, who is the shortest tenured GM in the NHL right now. "It looks like the majority want to streamline it to one combine and not allow us guys that feel that doing a little more is a benefit. MacT (Oilers GM Craig MacTavish) said to me, it was a great battle, but you couldnt win." The NHL intends to consider options now to enhance the league-run combine in May. Gary Bettman also suggested incorporating an on ice component to the combine in the future would be explored. Other News From Commissioner Gary Bettman - On the potential impact of a weaaker Canadian dollar (currently at . Shayne Graham Saints Jersey. 90 cents US) on the 2014-15 salary cap. "Im not sure that its a concern, it is what it is. The system accounts for fluctuations in currency which is why we do everything with the computations in US dollars. If the Canadian dollar goes down, then the cap goes down a little bit but the system contemplates that. Its not an issue, its not a problem. It is what it is." - On the projected $71 million cap that was suggested to the Board of Governors in September. "A lot of people were talking about the number that we showed the board in September; that was an illustration because it wasnt based on anything, we didnt have any revenues yet. We said after we get to the end of the regular season, we may be able to better project what it looks like. With the Canadian dollar where it is, maybe youre looking at a million or two million difference in the cap and based on where the cap is likely to be, its not that big a deal." - On penalties for removing helmets priors to fights due to visors and whether an alteration would be made given that visors are now mandatory for all players entering the league. "Wasnt discussed and its not more a problem than youve either perceived it to be or not to be. It wasnt an issue." - On cracking down on fights involving goaltenders. "The rules are what they are and from a whole variety of constituencies including the players, there doesnt seem to be any change in the consensus right now. To effectuate a change thered have to be a change among the constituent groups. Ive been told that if you ask the players, it would be 99-1 that you leave it the way it is. Its something will continue to look at but there is nothing to report." - On potential expansion announcements before the end of the season. "If there would be? I doubt it. Its not anything were contemplating. We have no expansion process that were going through. Its not something that we envision happening anytime soon, if at all. I know theres a lot of speculation and yes, theres a lot of interest, were getting a lot of interest from multiple parties and multiple places but its not anything yet that were prepared to deal with on a formal basis."
